Exuberance – A New Body of Work by Andrew Faulkner
This new series, Exuberance, celebrates the untamed emotional energy of the landscape—where swirling skies, saturated color, and gestural brushwork come together in a joyful release of feeling. These are not quiet scenes, but living, breathing moments of light and motion.
Inspired by a recent encounter with Wayne Thiebaud’s thickly painted, richly colored canvases, I embraced a bolder physicality in the work. Thick brushstrokes, vivid hues, and textured surfaces convey the pulse of land and sky in constant transformation.
Rather than depict a specific place, these paintings aim to capture a sensation—a breeze across an open field, the charge of a storm building on the horizon, the golden spill of sunlight after rain. Exuberance is an invitation to feel as much as to see, to step into a world where nature and emotion move together in rhythm.
