Using various methods of representation and abstraction, Bella's paintings are a continuous exploration of the natural world. She pushes the limitations of traditional painting and confidently presents beauty in a new and unusual way. Living in coastal Maine, Bella is constantly influenced by the sounds, scents, colors, and textures around her. With every painting, Bella carefully studies the intricate subtleties within the rural landscape. Her studio practice is a mix of plein-air, watercolor sketches, or taking photographs to refer to later in the studio. Known for her bold and gestural brushstrokes, Bella intentionally highlights the imperfections created by the human hand.
Bella studied at New Hampshire Institute of Art, Montserrat College of Art and Maine College of Art. She works out of her home studio in Cumberland, Maine.
