Marshall Point Light, Port Clyde, 2022
Acrylic on Birch Panel, 3D Relief
40 x 60 in
Marshall Point Lighthouse Marshall Point Light has been welcoming lobster boats into the harbor of Port Clyde since 1858. This lighthouse sits on the rocky point of one of the spots I find most picturesque in all of Maine. A wooden boardwalk connects the shore to the lighthouse, which is fun to check out followed by rock hopping and exploring the beach below. The lighthouse also has a movie credit to its name, having been featured in “Forrest Gump” as the eastern most spot on Tom Hanks cross country run. Originally I had colorful buoys on the front left and right. It felt too busy and once I replaced them with the 3D rocks the composition and feeling of the rocky Maine coast just clicked.
